How To Get Started
Clinical Integration: Optimizing patient flow - improved practice layout
One crucial aspect to consider when introducing myofunctional orthodontics into your practice is how to efficiently utilize your available space.
In order to effectively educate patients and parents, a dedicated space away from the dental areas is required. This area is referred to as the ‘Activities Centre’ and can be used to educate patients in a fun and friendly environment, away from the dental chair.
The ‘Activities Centre’ should be equipped with monitors for displaying educational media and decorative elements to assist in the motivation process. Placing mirrors in various positions around the practice also helps with the re-training process. Proper utilization of this space can allow for multiple patients to receive simultaneous treatment; leading to increased practice efficiency.
You should also have a space allocated for patient consultations. This 'Consultation Room' is for discussing and evaluating treatment options with patients and parents.
These design characteristics allow for sizeable improvements in patient flow and treatment, all of which can be maintained by trained auxiliary staff. When these key elements are fully implemented, practice efficiency is significantly improved.
The following video tour shows you how this works in a larger scale.
