Improving Patient Compliance
Improving patient compliance - Educational Programs
As with any treatment that uses a removable appliance, patient compliance is essential. If the patient is compliant then good results usually follow. Explaining to the patient the exact actions they need to take, and ensuring they understand the reasons for these actions can greatly improve compliance. The primary objectives of myofunctional orthodontics are unlike regular orthodontics. Myofunctional orthodontics aims to improve muscle function and allow for correct development, not just to straighten teeth, although the teeth do end up straight. It’s preferable for the patients to avoid the need for retainers, but this is not always achievable for every patient.
MRC produces a range of educational materials that help doctors and staff to effectively explain treatment to patients and parents, and assist in improving patient compliance. Some of these available educational programs are:
• Patient Consultation Presentation - a simple yet effective educational tool that allows patients and parents to better understand treatment and make an informed decision during their first consultation.
• Myobrace Activities - a range of fun myofunctional activities that assists patients in understanding and correcting their poor myofunctional habits.
• Nutrition and Tooth Decay - education for kids on the importance of nutrition and having a good balanced diet.
Attending an MRC Course will equip you with the tools and knowledge to proficiently motivate and educate patients in your practice. These courses also provide doctors with an opportunity to learn more about becoming a Myobrace Certified Provider™ (MCP). As aMCP, doctors gain access to a comprehensive range of educational materials.
Information about courses or the Myobrace Certified Provider™ can be found by visiting the Training Programs section of this website or by contacting your nearest MRCOffice.
